We all have tried to consume 2k calories a day, we mix and match all kinds of food till we hit the 2k mark. We choose all kinds of foods some are healthy and others not so much.
So are these diets really good for you?
It varies from person to person
A healthy diet is not just based on your age and gender, it is also highly based on your height. A small person has less muscle mass than a tall person. The taller person will need a higher calorie consumption than the shorter person.
Not every calorie is a good one
People who use the 2k diets tend to consume a lot of fast foods and then starve themselves when they reach their limit. Think of all the fat, sodium, and sugar you are putting into your body and the harm is done to it.

Starving yourself is not the answer
Other people are even scared to make the 2k mark. You are actually making your metabolism slower if you starve yourself which makes weight loss a slower process.
Don’t get me wrong: counting calories is not the problem, it’s the number of calories you are trying to consume
So how many calories do you need?
Like I said before, calorie consumption is a combination of three things: age, gender, and height.
Use this simple equation to figure out how many calories a day you need to stay in your current weight.
Women = 655 + (9.6 x W) + (1.8 x H) – (4.7 x A)
Men= 66 + (13.7 x W) + (1.8 x H) – (4.7 x A)
W: Weight in Kilograms
H: Height in centimeters
If you want to lose weight you could easily take out 500-800 calories a day. Remember to make all your calories count. Great diets consist of 55-60% Carbohydrates, 10-20% Protein, and 25-30% Fat.
So what are your thoughts now on the famous 2k calories? Would you give it a try to found out really how many calories you need? Would you like to know more about what a healthy diet breakdown consists of? Leave your thoughts in the comments and please share!
